My first photo book

Tuesday, June 25, 2013

This is my first ever printed photo book.  Don't ask me why it's taken so long.  I have a million ideas related to this but for now, I thought I'd share a few images from this first experiment.

I've wanted to record our trip to Fiji in 2005 for my sister in law's wedding in 2005.  First challenge was the quality of photos.  I had scanned images from film photos, emailed photos from various relations and our first digital camera was only about 4 megapixels.  I decided to use Snapfish as their system is relatively easy to use and upload photos to.  I just played around with their templates to make my own system.

I chose the 8 x 8 inch size - square format appealed and I could keep the lower resolution photos small and use better quality images for the full page shots.

Because we're talking 8 year old memories, I decided to journal an introduction on the inside first page only and let the rest of the story be told in pictures.

The service from Snapfish was amazingly fast.  I finalised my order on Sunday and my book arrived about 8.30 this morning!  I'm happy with the quality and finish and the best part is seeing my family reminiscing over the memories!

Like I said, I have lots of ideas to expand on this so as they say... watch this space! Always wanted to say that:)

Project Life - Weeks 23 and 24

Tuesday, June 18, 2013

All about simplicity this week and I love the result.
 Week 23
Week 24
It was a simple process.  I kept a png file going and added images as I decided to use them.  I find this helps me to balance a layout and the journaling, digital elements and colours. Once I've decided they are finalised, I save as JPGs in a print folder.

Supplies used: BH Design A page protectors, Paislee Press 'on my desk' journaling cards, Studio Calico NSD freebie digital elements

Mix of Canon DSLR and phone photos.
