OLW progress and random thoughts

Sunday, January 19, 2014

I'm still not sure how much I'll share here about my journey with my word moment.  Some of my thoughts feel a bit personal.  Last year I found I hardly shared anything.  In fact, I didn't always complete all of the tasks formally, however the word and the assignments were always present in my thinking.

This year because I identified 4 areas to approach, in some ways it's easier and sometimes I wonder if that's just going to be too much.  I may just elect to focus on 1 or 2 as we move along.

This week was take a moment.

My original thought was to just sit and look at the sea or the stars for 1 minute and just be in the moment.

In actual fact, it came to me another way.  I read this beautiful and heartfelt post by Pink Ronnie and felt compelled to go and take some time alone to write some things down.  So I took my journal with me on my walk, and I sat on a bench at the beach for 10 minutes and  wrote.  It didn't come easy.  Maybe I wasn't in the right head space.  But I did get a few things on paper and I'll give it another go.  Maybe the time will be right on my holiday next week?

This is an enlargement I've had printed for my OLW album.  I also included a 6 x 12 in Week 1 of Project Life.  That way it's visible in 2 places.  I may also get one printed for the wall by my desk.

Next week I'll be capturing the moment.  Perfect timing as I'll be on holiday at the beach:)

PL Week 2

Wednesday, January 15, 2014

Love how week 2 came together.  Just sums up simply what was meaningful last week, right down to the photo of our feet.  That symolises a walk with my son where we had a deep discussion which relates back to my OLW.  Last week I was concentrating on being in the moment.
I went for large photos again, which limited my choice, but hey, less is more, right?

I devoted this right side to Tuesday walks - in the morning with hubby and a long afternoon walk with my son.
Loved Ali Edward's digital stamps to add a few words to a couple of photos.

We're off on holiday to the beach soon so will post weeks 3 and 4 when we're home.

Supplies used:

Paislee Press Week in Review cards
Ali Edwards digital stamps
Other elements my own design

Project Life 2013 Week 1

Thursday, January 9, 2014

I've gone for even more simplicity... a more minimalist approach.  It seems harder to do that because the temptation to add more is always there.

I have added in a few One Little Word references this week but I have a separate album for that so it will be minimal in my PL album from here on I think.
My 4 'intentions" for OLW recorded on the 6 x 12 photo.  That will remind me of what I'm striving for this year.
The evening/sunset photos are from New Year's Day evening.  It was beautiful.

Supplies used:
Becky Higgins Project Life pages and Midnight Edition (striped card)
Paislee Press Week in Review card and digital brushes + free Twenty fourteen card

OLW intentions

Wednesday, January 8, 2014

This week I've spent some time brainstorming about my intentions for my choice of word this year - moment.  Originally I chose this word so I'd focus on today instead of worrying about yesterday and tomorrow... as I described here.

After some research I found so many relative quotes which also led me in other directions I'd like to explore and eventually narrowed my word down to 4 areas:
live in the moment
take a moment
capture the moment
seize the moment

I can see that some things I've listed under each of these intentions will overlap and that's cool.  I think I might focus on one of these each week (therefore rotating each month), but if another crops up, I'm happy to go with the flow.  Whatever comes my way, I'm happy.

Not so happy that I woke up at 3.21am this morning with this on my mind though.  I couldn't get back to sleep, so spent some time lying there brainstorming how I'd record all of this!

Long answer short, not 100% decided, but I think I'll use this blog a bit to keep myself accountable and to share with other OLWers.  I think I may also record extra in my OLW album in hybrid style, a little as part of project life and who knows, there may be a photo book sometime too.

I'd love to hear what your word is.

Hello 2014... Project Life cover

Saturday, January 4, 2014

My cover is complete.  If you saw my 2013 cover (here) and thought it was similar, you'd be right!  But I liked last year's cover and I like continuity, so similar it is.  Simple + contemporary.

I was originally going to use black and gold but after so much of those colours in my Christmas pages, I'm pretty much over them for a while!  So, I decided to stay with gray and white.

I used a transparency overlay from Paislee Press magic.

These words are copied from Pinterest.  I've also seen them on a wall sculpture which I'd love to get. Love them.

I've finished my 2013 pages.  Not sure if I'll upload them because Christmas seems an eternity ago!  I may share some bits in a few days.
